Butch called it a victory house - it was brought here from Portland I think, these were built for soldiers returning from the war (WWII), Ardy showed me where it was cut in half and then put back together...Butch said the hired man's house at the Harvey Ranch and Tim Guinei's (sp.) at the bottom of Picture Rock Pass were also 'victory houses'...would greatly appreciate letting me know who commented instead of being 'anonymous' and would love to have you write more history about SL...
This was, as I remember, a prefab house, the first one anybody had seen around Silver Lake.
